Someone said they were from Scottish Power, but stuff didn’t really make sense. Plus, I know Scottish Power only works from 8:30 to 7pm weekdays, and this call came through at 7:30 on a Friday night. I’m a bit worried cos I’m having a billing issue with them. The caller was a woman and seemed to know my situation well. She asked for a one-time payment or suggested paying in instalments over 15 months. The number only showed up as a possible scam after I ended the call.

Following up on my comment from 06/04/2021, I’ve now heard back from Scottish Power with this response. They said, "We checked into the call from 03445439009 and can confirm it was a legit call from our Scottish Power team. No cause for concern." Well, apart from the fact the call felt really pushy and even a bit threatening. Honestly, it does make you question Scottish Power’s approach.

Got an answerphone with a woman speaking in a Scottish accent saying she was from Scottish Power about something urgent. Rang back and got a different woman with a Northern English accent. Seems like they've broken into my Scottish Power account since she knew the date and amount of my latest bill. As the call went on, the woman got more difficult and even started threatening me. Eventually, she hung up saying "I don’t have to be spoken to like this"! (And I wasn’t rude or anything).

There’s defo some link to Scottish Power here, but it’s not a good one. Their security and IT setup has some serious holes. Could be a dodgy worker, an ex-employee, or just plain bad management. Someone just called me, and when I hit the decline button on my mobile, our landline kept ringing nonstop. I reckon these dodgy callers do it on purpose to trick you into picking up, so your answer machine kicks in, which then switches the call over to them and racks up a huge bill. Me and my hubby avoid having an answer machine exactly because of this type of scam.

Got a call from this number at about 8:15 in the morning, saying they were from Scottish Power. They asked to talk to my mum, but I said I’m on the account to chat for her.
