I didn’t pick up but if you do, just ask them right away where they got your number from. Usually, they say it’s from some kind of database. Then ask if they’ve checked GDPR rules to make sure you gave consent. Tell them under GDPR you can ask to be forgotten and demand they take your number off their list immediately. Also remind them companies can get fined 4% of their yearly earnings if they break this law. From my experience, most stop contacting you after that. Some won’t though, so report them to Ofcom and block the number. I’m getting fewer calls like this now.

I picked up the phone and they started talking about some pension payment being a scam, then asked how long I'd been paying into my pension. I told them just six months. They seemed kinda clueless then just ended the call. Feels like they were trying to see how much I've saved up or something fishy. Not sure what their game was.

I've tried before to track down who these numbers belong to and came up empty every time. Imagine if they were shouting rude stuff down the phone or making a racket? Surely things would be tackled then. It’s about time someone in power actually did something. Pay attention, all you do-nothings in Westminster... go after some of these nasty characters and watch your support rocket come election time. The best bit? It’s cost-free! We can just use the legal system we already have. Sure, BT might not be thrilled, but last time I raised an issue with them their response was basically "too bad" - seriously. So yeah, post-Brexit, let’s get cracking on this.
