3 yearsHi there. I’ve been getting hassled by these people for about a month now. They sent me a couple of letters with different charges for a contract I settled with 3mobail over a year and a half ago. The company chasing me is Lowell and the letter came from whistle. I told them I won’t be paying anything because when I rang 3mobail, they confirmed the contract is closed and if there was anything outstanding, they’d reopen it. I told the caller I’m not paying and if they have issues, we can sort it out in court. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!3MobailLowellWhistle6 yearsThey keep ringing me and sending letters sayin they bought my account from Three and want me to pay some money. Theyre really dodgy.6 yearsGot a call from 03335565733 and then received a letter claiming I owed money to EE and that they had purchased the debt. I've never had any EE account, and the first name they mentioned isn’t anyone who lives here. Looked up the company on Experian and it shows they have major negative reports. Totally a scam, avoid answering these calls.EEExperian6 yearsLowel6 yearsIf anyone gets letters asking for money for debts they dont actually owe, I'd say the smartest move is to get in touch with the delivery firm sending the letters. These scammers often use a courier service called 'Whistl'. Best to reach out to them and report that the letters feel like harassment. You should send them a copy of the letter so they can look into it properly. You can find Whistl's contact info easily by searching online.Whistl6 yearsGot a letter today claiming Vodafone passed a debt to them! The only Vodafone account I ever had was a PAYG one ages ago! This letter came right after I got a message from EE, which wasn’t really from EE. Definitely gonna bin it.VodafoneEE6 yearsMy father recently got a letter from Lowell, claiming he owes O2 a staggering amount of £1365.89 for a mobile contract, which is utterly preposterous! The details are all over the place - the bank information doesn’t align, nor does the phone number supposedly linked to the account. The thing is, he’s never had a contract phone in his entire life, and being housebound, there’s no way he could have even ventured to a shop, especially not on Christmas Eve! I genuinely believe this correspondence is a scam aimed at fleecing him. For anyone else facing a similar situation, do tread carefully and don't be duped by this nonsense.Lowell6 yearsComplete scammers. Don't ring that number. Got a letter today saying I owed a debt to EE. Rang EE right away - 1. No debt on my account 2. They don’t use Lowell to collect any money. Total scam, stay clear.EELowell6 yearsGot a letter addressed to my daughter from this firm. Trouble is, she hasn't lived here for over 14 years. I phoned her and she said she had no idea what it was about. After reading some comments here, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. I was gonna ring them to tell them to stop sending stuff to my place, but I don’t think it’s worth the hassle now.6 yearsThis firm seems either dodgy or just useless, trying to charge me £75 for an O2 bill that never existed!!! I’m sure I don’t owe a thing since I live in Texas now and anything PayPal-related is paid off immediately from my account. This has gotta be a scam; they’ve been bombarding me with letters for years, even though I haven’t been in the UK for over 5 years.LowellUKTexas6 yearsSCAM - got some letters saying they took over a debt from O2. But I don’t owe O2 anything and the number they mention isn’t mine. Checked with O2 and they said the number and account have nothing to do with me. Stupid me, I phoned them without thinking and the lady said I had a letter from 2 years ago about Provident, which I only just remembered I never got. Most of the time, they'll send you a text or voicemail with a ref number. Just use that to email them instead. It's way better to have stuff in writing rather than chit-chatting on the phone. If they’ve got the wrong person, just reply with an email like, “Hey, this isn’t me.” They’re actually pretty polite when it’s all on record like that.Lowel Debt Collections9 yearsLooks dodgy to me, probably a scam.9 yearsI actually work for this firm, it's all FCA regulated and everything. If you’re fortunate enough to have caller ID, best to avoid picking up their calls altogether. They tend to insist that they can’t converse with you until you’ve verified your identity and they often throw around terms like the Data Protection Act, which is nothing more than a tactic to control the narrative. Don’t divulge any personal information to them! Should you receive a letter at your home, respond with a straightforward email requesting them to furnish you with proof of the debt; this is a legal obligation on their part. In time, these pesky individuals will tire and back off, though it could take a fair while. Stay strong and don’t let them intimidate you!Lowell10 yearsThis firm calls itself Lowell Finance. About 03 Numbers
A lot of organizations use 03 numbers instead of the pricier 08 numbers. As an example, a number of public sector entities have shifted from 0845 numbers to 0345. The cost of calls is no more than calls to geographic numbers (01 or 02). Call charges depend on the time of the day, and most providers provide call packages that permit calls free of charge during certain times of the day. Mobile call costs differ based on the selected calling plan. Generally, these calls are included in free call packages.
