Right after I answered, he called me by my first name, which really unsettled me. He claimed to be ringing on behalf of the national lottery, but I’ve never entered any lottery before. I didn’t hesitate and just ended the call straight away.

Scammer pretending to be from BT. When you hang up, they ring back and you hear a message saying you’re leaving a message, supposedly to connect to your system. If you can, it’s safer to block while it’s still recording. I was really creeped out by this sneaky double trick from a con artist.
