They rang me a couple of times, claiming my number was picked and I could win something. I told them I'm not even with O2, but they said it made no difference. Definitely a scam. I ignored the second call and just blocked the number.

Just to clear up for anyone worried this could be a scam, it’s definitely not. I was suspicious at first too because of all the comments here. This number called me offering a sim-only deal with O2 and even asked for my bank details, which made me a bit worried about being scammed. So, I phoned O2’s official customer service to check the number and the reference code they gave me. Turns out everything matched up in their system, so yeah, this number is legit and it’s definitely O2!

Got a call but as soon as I picked up, they hung up straight away. Tried ringing back and it sounded like an international line, that weird noise you get when calling home from abroad on holiday. Total waste of time. Told them to stick their upgrade where the sun don’t shine since I just upgraded a few weeks ago at my local store. Thought I’d look the number up and here I am.

They rang saying they were from O2, saying I was eligible for an upgrade. They wanted my bank info but I kept telling them I'm a Tesco top-up user and never had an O2 contract as I’m 16. They kept promising a new iPhone plus £200 cash in 20 minutes. I told them off loudly, said I wasn’t falling for their scam and my personal details aren’t for them. Then I hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call claiming to be from O2 - they didn’t say much except that I was with O2, presumably to see where it was heading since I’ve been a customer for over a decade. They started chatting about my pay as you go account, but I told them I’m actually on a contract, so that was off. Then they said I’d had my contract for a year and was up for an upgrade - which is totally false, I've only had it six months. I’ve blocked it now though, could be from 02, I’ve blocked quite a few of their numbers over time. I’m on meds and my doctor often calls from a private number, so every now and then I accidentally pick up thinking it’s my GP, but it turns out to be those PPI people. It’s so annoying!

Honestly, I never pick up if I don't know the number. I just let it ring through to voicemail. If it’s something genuine or urgent, they’ll drop a message anyway, so no point stressing. After they hang up, I look up the number and block it straight away. They’ve only got so many numbers they can call from, so blocking them saves you loads of hassle.
