Got a call from someone saying they were from the Pensions Audit Centre. They tried to snoop around for my pension info, used my name and guessed my age or something. They just kept blabbering, so I ended up putting the phone down on them.

Got one of those dodgy call centre lads ringing me up, trying to slip you into some appointment with their pushy sales spiel. If you feel like having a bit of fun, just play along but feed them complete rubbish about your pension - don’t give them any real details. Pretend you’ve got over 20 grand in your pot, say you’re getting near retirement age, and that you haven't really checked it out in ages, so you’d love a bit of help. Go ahead and agree to an appointment, then they’ll try to set someone up to come round. When they ask for your address, just correct them with the wrong house number or give them some random one nearby if they ask - most of the time they only have your mobile anyway. If they want to send a confirmation email, toss them a fake one that looks legit enough so it won’t bounce back. Then just sit back knowing some dodgy salesman will be turning up at a place you don’t even live, block their number straight away, and if you’re feeling particularly patient, give the ICO a shout about it. Caller was clearly just some desperate bloke with no moral compass.

First they used to ring about pension checks, now it’s all about life insurance - still just as irritating and totally off. The caller kept saying there’d been changes in government rules and offered to review my policy. Then they tried to get my date of birth, plus my wife’s name, how to spell it, and her birthday too. I refused every time and explained we’d only had the policy for less than a year so no need for any check-up. Then she passed me to another person who started firing off even more questions! I’ve blocked this number now, but I’m sure they’ve got loads of others to bother us with.

I got a call from The Pension Audit Centre, and they kinda made it sound like they were part of some official government pension department. When I asked what exactly they were offering, the polite but persistent young woman said it was a free service and not a sales pitch. I pressed again if they had any connection to HM Government’s Pension Office, and she said no, they were independent. I wasn’t convinced and asked what the purpose of the call was then, what were they actually selling? She kept saying "nothing" and then went off on a tangent about pension fees and various stats that didn’t really mean much to me. Eventually, she said they’d transfer me to one of their registered pension advisors. I told her, so basically you’re an affiliate marketing outfit, right? She admitted yes. I said fair enough, but why pretend to be a government agency at the start? She wasn’t ready to let me off easily and asked if I had one last question, about when I last had a fully audited pension report - which was just last week from my own adviser! Honestly, it felt a bit dodgy, like they were blaggers or borderline con artists. If they were more upfront about what they do, I reckon they might have better luck. Total scam alert! Got a call earlier today from this number, some guy pretending to be a life insurance consultant. He started asking for bits of info which I reckon they should already have if they’re truly calling me about my policy. When I said I wasn’t sure about the exact details, he just guessed, saying it might be a variable plan - which I know is wrong, mine’s fixed. Honestly, funniest scam attempt I’ve seen. Then he mentioned they team up with AVIVA... immediate red flag there since AVIVA doesn’t do that sort of thing. No letters, nothing from them saying I needed to review anything, but this so-called ‘advisor’ insisted it’s a legal requirement every 18 months or your policy’s void! Pure rubbish. If you get a call from this number, block it straight away. Feels like they bought a bulk list of numbers and are trawling through for targets. The phones linked to this one all ring from the same source. Are you also getting calls about PPI, pensions, or life cover? They’re fishing for your details to rip you off or sell info on. I just had a ring from someone calling themselves the “Pension Audit Service”. They claimed it was due to some new government rule that folks have to be given free advice regarding fees on their pension plans. Received a call from someone saying they were from LS claims about payday loans, telling me I could get money back and that I’m due 6.6% cashback on every hundred pounds I borrowed. They also mentioned they do no win no fee. But they wanted me to download a file they emailed me first. I looked into LS claims and found out they mostly deal with banks, not individuals like me.
