Their intention appears to be gathering details about individuals in an attempt to commit identity theft.

Seems like they've brought back a number that’s been inactive for a year. Nothing recorded till today, then suddenly a bunch of calls in the last 30 minutes. Same idiots as before. Straight to block.

Some bloke said he was ringing from O2 to check if I was on contract or pay as you go. I told him if he was really from O2, he’d already have that info. He said it was just a quick courtesy call and thanked me for my time. Quite polite but still a bit irritating.

Make it all up while maintaining a clueless façade, and absolutely DO NOT share any genuine information. Here’s how to lead them on: 1. Claim you’ve got a pension pot exceeding 20k. 2. Indicate that you’re nearing retirement age. 3. Say you haven’t examined it in a while and could use some guidance. 4. Express an eagerness to set up an appointment, and they’ll allocate someone to you and schedule a visit. 5. When they seek to confirm your address, either correct them with a different number or just use your actual residence if they happen to have it (which they usually don’t, as they often start with just your mobile number). 6. They will likely want to send you an email confirmation; provide a bogus email address-make sure it sounds plausible to avoid bounces. THEN, simply relax, knowing some shifty operator is gearing up to visit a nonexistent address, and promptly block their number. If you feel inclined, report them to the ICO. - caller: a rather desperate and ethically challenged individual.

They claimed I’m due 6.6% back for every £100 borrowed and operate on a no win, no fee model. However, they urged me to download a file sent via email, which set off alarm bells. Upon looking into LS Claims, it turns out they only deal with banks and similar institutions. Definitely sounds like a scam to me!
