Just received a call from the same number, but thankfully, they didn’t manage to catch me out, the swines!

IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL FROM 0333 443 2747 REGARDING A LOAN, HERE'S A WORD OF CAUTION... So, this morning (12-Aug-23 @ 9:40am) I was greeted with a voice message - no prior ringing - courtesy of a recorded spiel that declared my loan application had been approved and I should ring the aforementioned number to confirm. Having recently submitted a loan application, I dialled up. Once on the line, a chap inquired about my phone number (which I had hidden) and then proceeded to announce that I was granted £5000. I requested the name of their company, but he mumbled something incoherent. I asked him to repeat himself - and just like that, they hung up on me. After a brief pause of about ten minutes (fully aware I was dealing with a scam), I decided to give them another ring. Just for fun, I thought it’d be entertaining to lead them on and gather information to share later. I called back again, also masking my caller ID using 141 before their number. Once more, they asked for my number, which I provided, and after a quick look-up, they repeated the whole “congratulations” routine on the £5000 loan without revealing their company name until I finally caught “INSTANT QUICK FINANCE” based in Coventry. They claimed I’d receive the funds within half an hour if I completed a few steps. They insisted this was a no-guarantor loan and that I was approved without any credit check, but lo and behold, in order to prove my ability to repay, I was told I needed to pony up £180 for the first month's instalment! Naturally, I played along. Next, they prompted me to log into my bank account. Here’s the kicker - they knew my bank’s name, account number, sort code, and even my name, along with the £5000 I’d applied for, which had been through a real company just two days prior! Who knows how they managed that? Anyway, after a bit of back-and-forth, they asked me to make a payment of £180 to Mr Faizan Shamrez, account number 82060162, sort code 30-66-67, using reference number 897936. At that point, I questioned which legitimate lender would grant a £5000 loan without conducting a credit check. The reply was, “We do, we trust all our loan users.” Loan users?! Is that really how they see us? I called them out on their ruse, stating I knew they were trying to scam me. His response? “Almost had you; I’ll get the next one!” and he promptly hung up. Meanwhile, I’ve received three additional voice messages from the same number, reiterating to contact them to access my funds. It’s absolutely disgraceful how these individuals attempt to dupe innocent people. Honestly, who’s got £180 to spare when they’re seeking a small loan? They must possess some profound issues if this is the best they can do for a living! Let’s stand our ground and expose these fraudsters. If they don’t manage to “hook the next person,” they’ll inevitably end up failing spectacularly!

I've just received a call that was precisely identical to what you described-every single word was the same! It's uncanny, especially since I'm currently in the process of securing a loan, so naturally, I was a bit taken in at first. I took the liberty of checking my banking app to see if there was any indication of a scam, but nothing flagged up. Then, the caller asked me to send a screenshot showing that I'd transferred money to 07520636581 via WhatsApp. Of course, I didn’t send any money at all, but I'm considering the idea of creating a fabricated screenshot to see how they respond. I know it's a bit dodgy, but I can’t resist a bit of mischief!

I received a voicemail from this number claiming that I've been approved for a loan I never sought out in the first place.

Just last night, I received a rather dubious text message from someone claiming to be Ross, offering a loan ranging from £250 to £2000, sent from the number 7378512395. I decided against opening it and promptly reported it as spam and possible fraud. Then, this morning, my phone rang from 03334432747, regarding the same loan. The caller insisted they needed to speak to Mr Ross, who had apparently applied for the loan. I politely informed them they'd dialled the wrong number before disconnecting and reported the call as spam, subsequently blocking the number. All of this from Lincolnshire!
