Received a text telling me to ring 03333 446 376 about an unpaid PPI claim. I got in touch with Gladstone Brookes at their main office and they said the number is legit, belonging to their South African call centre. The people on the other end even knew my last three addresses and a bunch of other info about me. I didn't receive a call but got a text telling me to ring this number. When I checked Gladstone Brookes' website, the number wasn’t there. I sent them an email with a pic of the message, thinking it might be a scam. They replied saying that number belongs to them and that someone would email me a form. I got a call from someone saying she was Kacy Vonn representing Gladstone Brookes. When I asked her to spell her name, I had to really concentrate. She was telling me I’d won a PPI claim, “Great news for you!” I then asked where she was calling from, and after a pause she gave me the Gladstone Brookes address in Warrington. Heads up - they’re also texting with the same “Good News” message.

I called their office on the landline number, and it turned out to be a legit call. Due to the volume of claims, they’re using a centre in Cape Town to help manage it all. Someone saying they're Gladstone Brooks, who I actually have a claim with, called me. They seemed to know a lot about me, but I doubt they're really from Gladstone Brooks since I usually get updates via email. I've been inundated with calls from someone posing as Gladston Brooks. Having previously worked in a call centre, it struck me as odd when I got a letter from G Brooks stating that my claim was settled-extremely dodgy, if you ask me. When I mentioned the letter during the call, the person on the other end faltered and seemed quite rattled. Suddenly, the line went dead. It’s noteworthy that past calls have ended the same way. Got a call from a woman with a South African accent on this number. She tried ringing twice yesterday but I missed it. Today, she said she was from Gladstone Brookes about a Santander claim related to an Evans store card. I was suspicious since I didn’t remember anything about it. As far as I know, all three of my claims were sorted and closed last month. She seemed to know the specifics of those claims though. I’d put in a claim with Gladstone Brookes and they rang me to verify some info. Before answering, I looked up the number coz the call was really muffled and the person wasn’t speaking very clearly, which made me think it might be dodgy. But they asked detailed questions about my claim that only the real people would know, so it turned out legit even though the call was poor quality.
