Every day, I get calls from numbers that are either international or hidden, sometimes twice a day. When they call, it’s always a busy call centre noise in the background. If I let my answering machine pick up, they just end the call right away. It’s really annoying.

I received a call from this particular number on the 30th of November at precisely 12:23. As per usual, it was the classic routine about not selling anything, but rather conducting market research. I politely declined and mentioned that I was registered with the TPS. However, as he appeared to be overseas, presumably in India, he didn’t seem to grasp my situation. He asserted he was in Glasgow, claiming I should recognise his rather pronounced Scottish accent. I thought it reasonable to request some contact details, given they supposedly operated as a responsible British outfit. Regrettably, despite his courteous tone, I couldn’t make heads or tails of what he said next. It’s likely he moved on to prey on someone else unsuspecting.
Just a tip if you decide to ring back - remember to add 0147 at the beginning to keep your number private!

Around 1:43 in the afternoon on Monday, 30th November, I got a call from the number mentioned above. They weren't trying to sell me anything, rather they claimed that the government was “handing out” up to £7,000 in grants. As I waited for a pause in their lengthy pitch, I managed to tell them that I’d received previous calls from their firm and requested that they erase my name and phone number from their records. Just as I was finishing up my request, they abruptly cut the line without so much as a farewell. It seems that being on the Telephone Preference Service list doesn’t make much of a difference. This was the fourth-or maybe even fifth-call I've had from this particular caller.

I had a rather cheeky caller the other day, claiming to be from a company conducting local surveys. After waffling on for ages, he eventually got to the crux of the matter-he wanted to evaluate my property for potential solar panel installation. It’s utterly ridiculous, as I’m signed up with the TPS, but it seems that makes no difference whatsoever!
