Got a voicemail from this number on my home phone. I run a guesthouse and I think they checked my site, saw the kind of guests I host and what they usually pay, then called to say that exact sum was linked to fraud. Some bloke called sayin I tried to send a message and told me to press one to see who it was to - even said I 'sent a speech bubble' without any text. Problem is, I hadn’t sent any texts so I knew straight away it was dodgy. But weirdly they knew my name from somewhere, so maybe they hacked something. BE CAREFUL - if you didn’t send a message, it’s definitely a scam. EVEN IF YOU CAN’T REMEMBER, DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING. If it’s for real, the person will ring you back. Don’t give in to curiosity!

yeah it said theres a text message for me and to press 1 to hear it or a different button to delete it, I didnt do either, just hung up cos it felt dodgy as I was just talking to someone else between calls, so wasnt sure - better to just end it. then I used 1471 to check the number, and I found out who it was. all good, cheers, james

Recently began receiving these texts to my landline. Got two yesterday with just jumbled letters being read out loud, really messed up. Heard someone say OMG at the end. It’s definitely not from Parcelforce like others have said. Today had a proper call, but I missed it. Bet it won’t stop here. Are folks now sending SMS to landlines to dodge the new rules? Some random call about a txt message, but it came through on my landline. I think it had something to do with a parcelforce delivery that showed up later that day. The message told me to ring 0844776262, which charges you if you call. Really irritating coz it kept saying "you have a text message" like three times in a row.

I recently received a call from 03333440000, which struck me as curious given that it has two additional zeros compared to other numbers of its kind, as per 1471. My voicemail caught the call, but they didn't bother to leave a message. When they tried again, I decided to pick up. To my surprise, I was greeted by an automated voice touting some BT SMS notification. They offered me the option to "Press 1 for details," but when I did, nada-no message at all. I attempted yet again and got the exact same outcome. Really, just a bothersome call.

Got a call on my landline today, the person said there was a text message waiting, using my son’s mobile number and said press 1 to hear it. I pressed 1 and it just played loads of random letters and sounds, so I ended the call. What creeped me out most was that they actually knew my son’s number!

We got a call from this number around 9.30pm on Monday 25th December on our home phone. The person on the line said we'd missed a text and if we rang back, the message would turn into voicemail. I had a feeling this was one of those premium rate scams, so we didn’t bother calling back. We also passed the details onto our local neighbourhood watch for them to keep an eye on it.
