On 18th August 2023, I got a call from someone saying they were with the Housing repairs team. They asked about any mould problems in my flat, which I found odd because I never reported anything. Then they got a bit confused and asked how they even got my number. The person then just said “Alright, cheers” and ended the call. Quite strange really.

Got a missed call around 6 in the evening and decided to look up the number here. Turns out it’s a scam, just like I thought. Since I rent from the council, I wasn’t going to fall for any of their nonsense. From what I’ve read on here, just picking up might open the door to more scammy rings. Sounds like one of those tricky voice AI scams coming from a call centre in India. Best thing is not to pick up at all, cos if you do, they’ll think your line’s live and probably pass your details along to other scammers who’ll keep ringing you non-stop, often from different VOIP numbers. Just let it ring till it goes to voicemail or hangs up, then block the number straight away.
