I just wanted to highlight how fantastic the National Shielding Helpline is. They really provide invaluable support to those in vulnerable situations during these challenging times. Truly commendable service!

This number is indeed a valid NHS line, typically employed for a range of official activities. However, it appears that fraudsters have managed to mimic this number, using it for nefarious schemes. So, exercise a good deal of caution if you receive a call from this number.

No more free food parcels. Great, guess I’m broke again then.

It started with a recorded message saying something like "you are now logged in". I hung up straight away because I had no idea what it was about. Just now I find out it's for shielding. Never had a call begin like that before, usually it’s someone talking live. I told them it’s safe since my partner is shielding, we’ve only got 3 boxes all this while so I didn’t know this number. They’ll probably ring again.

Got a call from 03333050466 and they left a voicemail but it was totally mumbo jumbo, couldnt make out anything. I called back and they asked me for my PIN number! Seriously?? I have no clue who this number belongs to.

Honestly, this number is totally legit. They usually call for a good amount of time, so maybe your phone goes to voicemail really fast or you’re just slow picking up. Quit moaning about the NHS, yeah?

Got a call from this number earlier but ended up hanging up before I could pick up, it's not the first time either. They’ve rung my mobile too but same thing happens. If it’s really important, why don’t they let the phone ring a bit longer? I’m not gonna be glued to my phone all day just waiting.

Its frustrating. Everyone knows we need to stay safe, ive been indoors since february so please stop calling. Were not daft.

So frustrating! We've been inside since February to stay safe, so no need to keep ringing us. Honestly, we're not daft! Please just stop calling.

Got loads of calls from this number but they never ring long enough for me to pick up, really frustrating. If they actually want to talk, why cut off after just a few seconds? Was wondering if it was someone legit.

It was the shielding folks ringing me, just making sure if I’m still getting the food parcels and wanna keep receiving them until the end of July, plus some other details. I was outside in my garden and my phone was about to die. They said they’ll ring back to give me the full info. I’m guessing it’s about what I saw in the letter I got last week, about some changes coming up. Maybe others haven’t got their letters yet.

I’m deaf and my mobile showed this number as having called me. But when I tried to pick up, it just went straight to my voicemail which has a message saying I’m deaf and to use email if they have it. Since I didn’t get any email, I’m guessing it’s someone I don’t know. I don’t listen to my voicemail for the same reason - deaf!

They keep all their calls on file, so if what you’re claiming is right and they did swear at you, you should contact your council. They’ll get the call recordings from the call centre involved and that person would be fired. I speak as a team leader on this campaign. That said, I don’t believe you and I’m pretty sure no one swore at you. We’re here to assist.

I dunno if this was meant to be a joke or what, but it wasnt funny at all. When I answered, the person just started shouting swear words at me outta nowhere and then hung up.

Someone rang saying they were from the NHS and wanted my personal info to verify my identity, like my DOB, which I didn’t feel comfortable giving. Then they asked for my phone number - weird since they were already on that number! When I asked for proof of who they were cos they said they knew me, they just hung up on me mid-sentence. So rude and totally unprofessional for someone claiming to be checking on people who need shielding.

They can help with free food parcels, deliveries, help from the council and loads more. So don’t ignore if they call you. Or you can just pick up and say you want them to stop calling!

Got calls from these jokers like 4 times today, messing about with silly noises. I can deal with a one-off prank but honestly, after the first call it just gets really irritating.

They said it was a shielded number, then the caller wanted my husband’s full name and after that his birthday, which we didn’t give out cause we weren’t sure if the call was legit or not.

This number belongs to the NHS helpline for people who are vunerable because of health issues and are on the Government Shielding List. It’s a trusted line. They want to assist, so try to appreciate their efforts.

Covid is still around. But here’s the thing for the ones acting daft - there’s room in the ICU if you catch it. If you’re getting this call, it’s likely you’re at risk. Do you honestly want to take a chance on dying? Just stick to the rules, please.

I work on this number and can say they will take you off the call list if you ask. If you tell us to stop calling, we have to respect that. But if you never say anything, we just keep calling cause we don’t realise you want to be left alone.

I received a call from this number, and when I picked up, there was complete silence on the other end. After a moment of waiting, I decided to end the call.

Honestly, it’s not always as simple as just ignoring the calls. Some companies dont even give you the chance to say “please stop calling.” It kinda depends on who’s ringing you. If it really annoys you, just block the number, it’s not that difficult. Instead of complaining here about them calling to help, just sort it out yourself!

I do shielding work and check this site every day just to see how cheeky and nasty some folks can be. If you’re not interested in the support, just don’t pick up. I’m only 20 and at uni, so imagine if someone spoke to your own daughter or granddaughter like that. One person even told me she wished I caught covid!! Honestly, it’s unbelievable.

I’m involved with the shielding efforts and I drop by here every day just to see some of the ridiculous and rude comments people leave. If you don’t want the support, then simply don’t pick up the phone. I’m only 20 years old and studying at university. Imagine if someone spoke to your own daughter or granddaughter like that. One person even said they hoped I caught covid!! Honestly, it’s quite upsetting.

They arent allowed to keep ringing me over and over if I tell them to stop. If I decide I dont want help from the NHS, that’s my decision. Im under no legal obligation to accept it. Once I say stop calling, they have to respect that and not call again. Simple as that.

To the person below, covid aint gone anywhere and it probably never will. Here in the UK, there might be less cases showing up but dont let it fool you into thinking its all safe now. If infections rise again, lockdowns will come back. You're free to go out if you like but please keep distance from others. Just because you dont mind it, doesn't mean everyone else feels the same.

To the person down there - covid isn't gone and it's not just gonna disappear. Here in the UK, sure, there’s fewer cases showing up in reports but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s over. If the numbers rise again, lockdowns will come back as they always do. You’re free to go out if you want, but please remember to keep your distance and respect others. Just because you’re not bothered, doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same.

The rudeness on here is honestly crazy, I can't even imagine how tough it must be for the people on the other end trying to help these annoying callers! If you don't want any help or don't fancy talking to them, just don't pick up or kindly tell them you’re alright! They definitely don’t deserve to deal with disrespect over the phone or read nasty comments, when all they’re doing is their job!!! Big thanks to the callers for being so patient and helpful with me and my dad!

They’re allowed to call you as much as they like since it’s about your health and safety. Best thing is just pick up, answer every question they throw at you, then the calls should stop. They’re only trying to help. Covid hasn’t gone away, and anyone can still catch it.

Another annoying call from this number! I’ve got no clue who it is. They didn’t even leave a message on my voicemail! Looks like just some pointless person messing around with people’s time!

Instead of entering the number straight away, I searched for national shielding helpline and the top result was the gov.uk site. That exact phone number is listed there. After looking up the number, I reckon either the government, NHS, or the national shielding helpline messed up using an 0333 number because it does come off as a bit dodgy, even though it's legit. They probably should've gone with an 0800 number instead. But now that I know it’s alright, I’ll pick up if it rings again.

They dont make calls after 10pm mate. Their listed hours are from 9 in the morning till 8 at night, just check it. No offence but why you gotta make stuff up? Sort yourself out.

I didn’t put the number in right away, instead I looked up the national shielding helpline and the top result was the official gov.uk site. Turns out the number matches what’s listed there exactly. After checking it out I reckon there’s been some mix-up with the 0333 prefix by the NHS or whoever runs the shielding helpline because it does seem a bit dodgy at first glance, even though it’s legit. Personally, I think an 0800 number would’ve felt a lot safer. But now I’m convinced it’s genuine, so I won’t ignore it anymore.

If anyone reckons this number is a scammer even though it’s listed on gov.uk and the NHS site, you’re only kidding yourself. You’re missing out on getting help and having a nice chat. It’s worrying that people might keep thinking this way. Honestly, you’re just as risky as the virus itself.

My sister gave up her day off to take calls on this number, and she often gets really upset from the rude things people say. The people on this line actually want to help. If you check the number, it’s genuine. They’re just checking in to see if you’re alright. They’re even offering free food, and honestly, some of the reactions they get are quite awful.

Not getting a response usually suggests a dodgy caller. Honestly, I’m fed up with these scam phone calls. Why do they bother dialling if they’re not going to say anything? Anyone else had a run-in with 03333050466?
6 years
I can guarantee you that this is totally bona fide. I’m employed by the shielding helpline myself. The number we use to contact people is 03333050466, and if you happen to miss our call, we always leave a voicemail. Our purpose for calling is simply to check in on your well-being and ascertain whether you still require food parcels, medication assistance, or any additional support. Labeling it a scam without all the facts may lead some individuals to be hesitant in accepting the call. We are a genuine service. When you register through the government site and mark yourself as vulnerable, it clearly states that you'll get a call from this number. I’d encourage you to have a look for yourself.

I kept getting calls from what I thought was Amazon Prime, so I blocked those numbers. Now this new lot started calling, and I’ve blocked them too. Honestly, when are the authorities gonna properly crack down on these scammers? They’re making it hard to tell which calls are important. We’ve got loads of pensioners around here, so it just means more dodgy calls to people who might not know better, putting them in a tough spot. Also, why on earth do online sign-up forms FORCE you to give a phone number before you can register? That’s gotta stop. It’s so annoying!

Just to jump in on what the person said earlier, this number usually leaves a voice message that sounds like it's from a real person. But I was told recently that because they're swamped with over a million calls to make, they’ve stopped dropping messages to save time. If you call back, you’ll hear a recorded message explaining it’s the NHS. Don’t jump to conclusions. It’s good to know the facts!
