Got a call from someone saying she was Emma from O2, sounded like she had an Indian accent. They rang me three times in an hour from this number (020 45382457). After telling them I’m not an O2 customer, I blocked the number. Then, out of nowhere, the same person called again but from a different number, using the exact same spiel. When I asked to be removed from their list because I’m not with O2, she just said ‘ok bye’ and hung up straightaway. Quite annoying!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Barclays, asking about some suspicious activity on my account because there was a transaction in Birmingham. Thing is, I don’t live anywhere near there. I’ve had calls like this before, claiming the same thing. My usual trick is to tell them I’ll ring Barclays back on their official number. This time the person just dropped the call straight away. Real Barclays would never just end the call like that.

They keep ringing even after I told them to stop. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Alexander from Microsoft. He asked me to sit at my computer and give him access. Total SCAM! Watch out, the number was 0333 303 4046 and he said it was from Microsoft support.

Totally a rip off, nothing genuine about it.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Talk Talk’s tech support, saying my phone line would be cut off today if I didn’t press 1. Seems like scammers are targeting Talk Talk users like mad at the moment. Has Talk Talk said what they’re doing to stop this?

Every time we answered the phone, there was a pre-recorded message warning us that our internet might be cut off today. They gave us a couple of options: press one if we wanted to keep TalkTalk or another if we wished to cancel.

Got a call claiming to be from Microsoft saying my PC was hacked and that I had to verify my licence online or it would be shut down straight away. I played along for a bit but was pretty sure it was dodgy, so I rang Microsoft myself - they never call you like that. The person on the other end was super pushy and wouldn’t back off, so in the end I just hung up hard twice. It's really worrying stuff. Best thing is to always have the real Microsoft UK number ready and call them directly if you get anything like this.
