2 yearsI got a call today from 03333031484 and the bloke said he was from Santander. He claimed there was a £600 charge on my debit card. I told him that couldn’t be true since I haven’t been out or used my card, plus my account has no money in it. Then he asked me where I keep my money if my Santander account is empty. That made me suspicious, so I told him if he really worked for Santander, he’d already know my account details. I ended the call and told him he’s either a scammer or fraud. After that, I blocked the number straight away.Santander2 yearsGot a call from a bloke claiming he was with Santander, saying there was some dodgy activity on my debit card. I told him I’d ring the bank back on my own to sort it out, and then he started swearing at me and just ended the call. Proper rude!Santander3 yearsGot a call from Sean about switching my meter and sorting a date for installation. He already had my account number and bank details, which worried me a bit. After setting everything up, he rang back to say another supplier had a better offer, asking if he'd pass me over to them to discuss it further. Bit fishy if you ask me!Sean3 yearsSomeone called saying they were with British Gas, but I'm really doubtful they were legit!British Gas3 yearsI received a call purporting to be from British Gas. To be honest, it sounds rather dubious.British Gas3 yearsI got a load of calls from 02392160307 and 07443673741, all within minutes of each other, with someone speaking in an Indian accent. They claimed to be from British Gas trying to switch my energy contract and warned my power would be cut off in just a couple of hours. Foolishly, I told them my actual supplier, Utility Warehouse. Afterwards, the same number rang again, pretending to be UW this time, and sent a dodgy email to my work address linked with my phone number. The email said something about “technical faults” in the meter and this "line loss factor" causing issues - basically saying they’d be closing my account and moving me to a new company at no cost, offering a refund to “sort it out.” The email was from a really suspicious address, which made no sense. I don’t even have a business account with UW since I work from home. Totally sketchy and obviously a scam.British GasUtility WarehouseUW3 yearsI got a call from 0333 303 1484, I answered with a simple hello and then they just hung up on me 😳.3 yearsLoads of electricians have been ringing me up lately tryin to offer their services for some jobs.3 yearsThis person said they were from Microsoft.Microsoft3 yearsI attempted to ring back, but the number just wasn't available.3 yearsThe blokes doing some home repairs round here are way too noisy!!3 yearsI just received a call from this number, with the caller asserting they were from BT. Honestly, it strikes me as rather improbable that British Gas would share a contact number with BT, so I have a strong suspicion it might be a scam call. Stay alert, everyone!BTBritish Gas3 yearsI've got calls from this number on quite a few occasions, and every single time I pick up, they just cut off straight away without saying anything.3 yearsI received a couple of calls from this number in quick succession, alleging to be from Microsoft. When I asked them to kindly leave me alone, their response was downright offensive. What a piece of work!Microsoft3 yearsI recently got a phone call from a woman claiming to represent Sky, inquiring about any issues with our internet connection. She asked if I’d noticed any unusual activity. I politely replied that I hadn’t and said goodbye before disconnecting. It’s obviously a scam, especially since I’ve come across other comments about similar calls from BT and British Gas.SkyBTBritish Gas3 yearsSomeone rang saying they were from BT Openreach, but I just ended the call straight away!BT3 yearsEven though they tell you to call that number back, trust me, don’t waste your time! It’s definitely not British Gas. If you check the number they rang you from, it’s traced back to Portsmouth. It’s a total scam! I’ve found three different addresses linked to that same Portsmouth number, ridiculous, right? Do they honestly believe we’re all daft? What I suggest is to always answer with a question and never say yes to anything. This lot have already been reported to the police.Portsmouth3 yearsBe aware that your SMART Meter works fine with any provider. Don’t book any appointments to swap it out - it’s a total SCAM. These scammers just hand the phone around between themselves. You can try dialling 1471 to find the real number they’re calling from. When you call them back, they’ll give you a dodgy number based in Portsmouth. Both numbers are fake scams. Don’t agree to anything at all. Just get in touch with your bank’s fraud team straight away and explain the situation.
