Over the course of two days, I got calls from someone claiming to be from Santander's fraud department, which sounded convincing since my account had previous fraud issues. He said he was checking for any pending payments and mentioned a transaction of over £3700. When I said it wasn’t mine, he insisted on cancelling it and asked for the OTP that had just arrived on my phone. I didn’t give it and told him I’d ring back instead. He tried to persuade me but hung up when I wouldn’t cooperate. Honestly, it felt really legitimate.

Somebody rang me saying they were from the Nationwide fraud team, but honestly, they just repeated info that's easy to look up. Then they threw out a debit card number and said they wanted to assist with a dodgy charge on my account. Definitely best to steer clear of this one.
