Just had a call around 1:55pm from this number, some bloke pretending he was from the NHS, talking about covid treatments. Then out of nowhere he asks if I’ve got life insurance, saying it’s super important. I told him nah, better to save up for your own funeral. Felt proper daft after cause I asked him a couple of times who exactly he was and what he wanted but he just kept going. Makes me mad at myself for not hanging up sooner.

Totally a scam. My phone flashes a big red warning on screen saying it’s a scam call and blocks the number straight away. When they do manage to get through, it’s nearly always someone with an Indian or Pakistani accent. They go on with the same old story, like “As a valued client, we’d love to give you a 30% discount on this or that...” and so on. Best thing is to just ignore and block the number if your phone doesn’t do it automatically.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying I could get 30% off my bill. My phone reception isn’t great at my place so I asked her to say it again and what company she was calling from. Got a call from this number claiming to be O2, offering a 30% discount on my monthly bill. They put me through to a supervisor who said he needed to send me two texts for security checks. I told him I didn’t want any messages until he could tell me something specific about my O2 account first. He insisted he couldn’t do that for security reasons and kept pushing to send the texts. I asked him to prove who he was by stating, for example, how much I’m currently paying each month. When I asked where exactly he was calling from, he said O2 in London, which matched the number’s area code. I kept pressing for his location, but eventually, they just hung up on me. Also, trying to report this directly to O2 was a nightmare - the phone queue was endlessly long and I couldn’t connect to an agent online since they were obviously swamped. Definitely not a smooth or reassuring experience!
