Someone rang me saying they were from British Gas, knew my name, and wanted to come by to swap my meter for a smart one. As soon as I told them I already have a smart meter, they hung up straight away. It makes me a bit worried that they might be using calls like this to try and get into people’s homes.

I received a call from a charming English woman using this number. She mentioned she represented a firm called LTI, but I can’t seem to find any trace of that company online 🤔. He asserted he was aware that I had government-backed fibreglass loft insulation fitted some time ago and was keen to inform me that it’s now deemed hazardous. To my mind, fibreglass is simply fibreglass, and I find it hard to believe the government would permit the installation of unsafe materials in countless homes without making prior contact-most likely via a formal letter. It strikes me as a potential scam where this individual could be feeding information to a loft insulation firm, eager to fleece customers by charging an arm and a leg to replace perfectly sound insulation with their own product. I advise you to be wary. Just inform the caller that you’re not interested and plan to report both his call and the number he’s using.
