They claimed they were working on behalf of my insurance. Mentioned I was owed £2000 in compensation. When they started asking loads of questions and got to my car's registration, I said I couldn't recall it. Right after that, they just hung up. It dawned on me then that the whole thing wasn’t legit when they needed the reg number.

Over the past three weeks, I got four calls from these people about some accident they claimed I was involved in. They assured me I could get £500 and extra compensation. They said they got my info from the insurers because I supposedly ticked a box showing interest. When I asked them to stop calling, they got weirdly pushy, like asking why I'd refuse the money!! They barely knew anything about me though. I've gone ahead and blocked their number now. Honestly, their pitch sounds pretty believable, and I reckon someone less savvy might end up falling for it!

Some chap rang me up, used my first name, and claimed I’d been in an accident a month prior. He mentioned my car insurance had passed my details onto them to wrap things up. When I queried him about the password I’d set up with my insurer, he was completely stumped and kept bombarding me with questions. I just kept talking over him, telling him to fetch the password from my insurance and then get back to me. He carried on regardless, so I decided to hang up in the end.
