He went on to peddle some trading courses and insisted I consider signing up with his trading firm. Instead of being forthright, he chose to disparage his rivals. To be honest, trading isn't really my cup of tea, so I kindly expressed my disinterest and requested that he cease calling me.

The call started off with some music and chatter buzzing in the background, then a polite bloke asked for me by my first name. When I asked who he was, he just said Chris. Once he seemed confident he’d got the right person, he went on with his spiel. “I’m an independent financial advisor. I’m reaching out to warn folks about a trading firm being looked into, called SVS securities.” I didn’t say a word, just kept listening. Then he just ended the call.

They had my number and kept probing about her property since I handle some financial stuff for her. I acted like I was her straight away cos I was suspicious, and he hung up quick. Feels like they’re targeting older folks who might not be as careful. Not on my watch when I’m looking after her affairs. Poor those who aren’t as alert. The guy sounded quite posh and professional too, so heads up everyone.
