I received a rather peculiar call earlier from someone with a distinctly southern accent, who identified themselves as representing a company named “Affinity.” They were apparently offering a complimentary meeting with a certified financial adviser. However, the call suddenly cut off right in the middle of their spiel, leaving me unable to utter a word. It felt quite like I was conversing with a recording. I should mention, my phone number is ex-directory and I’ve registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so any unsolicited calls like this are quite unwelcome. Plus, there was no chance for me to request being placed on their “do not call” list. The number was 03332122487. Quite frustrating, I must say!

Got a call from a lady with a South UK accent claiming to be from some firm called "Affinity". She was pushing a free appointment with a financial adviser. Strange thing is, she hung up halfway through her spiel, so I never really got to say anything - felt like an automated message, maybe? I’m on the Telephone Preference Service and my number’s ex-directory with BT, so this was definitely one of those unwelcome, cold calls. Plus, they didn’t give me a chance to ask them to stop calling or to add me to their "do not call" list or whatever. Really annoying!

Somebody called me out of the blue about some "event" near me related to my money. I told them I wasn’t interested at all - I don’t like random people ringing up about my finances! Honestly, where on earth did this idiot even find my phone number?

The chap sounded really nice and believable. He mentioned he was ringing from Turnkey company to set up free meetings with financial advisors. I haven't made up my mind yet, could be legit but I’m always wary of cold calls. He said he’d give me another buzz on Monday to check what I’ve decided.
