Got a call from someone claiming to be MBNA, using my name and trying to get more info from me. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

There are really mixed messages about whether this is a scam or a legit call, which makes it quite worrying.

Got a call warning me about some strange activity on my account. Hung up and logged into my MBNA online to check, but everything looked fine. Pretty sure it was just a scam trying to catch me out.

Looks like a scammer trying to piece together info, claiming to be from MBNA. I didn't get any texts from them, so I reckon it was just some dodgy credit card reader thing.

Tried to pay online using my mbda card but it got declined. Right after that, I got a missed call from this number. Then I received a text from mbda asking to confirm if it was me trying to make the payment, so I guess that call was from mbda's fraud team checking things out.

I’ve just had a call that reeks of a credit card con! Someone rang up, masquerading as MBNA, fishing for my personal card info. I decided to ring my bank, and they confirmed it was indeed a scam. They've since cancelled my current card and are sorting me out with a fresh one. Just a heads up - stay vigilant!

It purports to be a fraudulent MBNA contact number, yet it strikingly resembles a scam.

I ignored the call because the number was unfamiliar. The voicemail picked up but nothing was said. I looked up the number here and found this page. Then I rang MBNA on a different number from their official site. Didn’t click any links, just typed it myself. The fraud team said they’d frozen my account and tried to get in touch about a possible dodgy transaction. So yeah, this is a legit MBNA number.

Got a text from MBNA earlier on this number, saying they would be in touch about some recent transactions. It came from the same MBNA number they usually use to send balance updates and stuff. Then later, I got a call from this number too. When I rang back to their fraud team using the number, I had to deal with an automated system before finally getting to a real person. Bit of a faff, but at least I got through in the end.

I've confirmed that this is indeed a legitimate number for MBNA. They reached out to me via both phone and text to notify me about some suspicious activity on my account. I contacted MBNA directly to verify it, and they assured me it's authentic. Thankfully, they turned down the transaction, cancelled my card, and are in the process of sending me a replacement.

Just adding to my comment from around 40 mins ago - got a proper call from MBNA checking if I was the one topping up my phone credit. They rang my mobile first but I didn't pick up. So yeah, this number is legit and definitely from MBNA.

Got a call on my home phone, but my answer machine picks up straight away, and this caller just hung up right away. Real callers always leave a message. So, my guess is this one’s dodgy. Not long before that I rang O2 on my mobile to add credit, and I had to punch in my card details on the keypad. The payment didn’t go through. Just bad timing or something fishy going on?

No credit card firm would ring you up to say a firm wants to take £24.99 from your account and ask you to call them back for authorisation. I’m starting to think the good reviews I’ve seen might actually be put up by the scammers!

It was from MBNA. They were inquiring about a transaction that hadn't gone through.

This is definitely the MBNA fraud number. I got a text and it felt a bit suspicious. Then another text showed up along with a pretty believable voicemail. So, I called their support line and turns out my card had actually been compromised. They told me the messages were legit.

This came from MBNA's Fraud Team, so it’s for real. They usually send you a text to double-check any recent charges on your card. You can just reply to that message on your phone if you recognise the purchase, no need to ring them back.

Had a call from MBNA's Fraud Team about my card being misused. The number was 0333 0459 717. I double checked by ringing their official 0800 587 0997 line. They told me there was an unauthorised purchase on Amazon today using my card - which was true! They immediately stopped the payment and cancelled my card after I contacted that 0800 number. Funny thing is, I haven't even used this card in over two years and it’s never left the house. So don’t believe anyone saying the 0333 number isn’t from MBNA; those comments are totally wrong and just confusing folks!

I got a couple of missed calls from this number and ended up with two voicemails. They mentioned that my credit card had been utilised three times in London, which was rather alarming. My credit card provider has placed a freeze on my account until they've had a chat with me about it. This number appears to be genuine, so it might be worth your while not to disregard it immediately.

Legit number for sure - I checked with MBNA and they said this number is theirs. Comes from their automated fraud department. Basically, if you get a text from them about a suspicious purchase and reply “No”, they ring you from this number. Then they put you through to their fraud team who help sort out any dodgy charges and confirm the transactions you know about.
