I've confirmed that this is indeed a legitimate number for MBNA. They reached out to me via both phone and text to notify me about some suspicious activity on my account. I contacted MBNA directly to verify it, and they assured me it's authentic. Thankfully, they turned down the transaction, cancelled my card, and are in the process of sending me a replacement.

Just adding to my comment from around 40 mins ago - got a proper call from MBNA checking if I was the one topping up my phone credit. They rang my mobile first but I didn't pick up. So yeah, this number is legit and definitely from MBNA.

Got a call on my home phone, but my answer machine picks up straight away, and this caller just hung up right away. Real callers always leave a message. So, my guess is this one’s dodgy. Not long before that I rang O2 on my mobile to add credit, and I had to punch in my card details on the keypad. The payment didn’t go through. Just bad timing or something fishy going on?

No credit card firm would ring you up to say a firm wants to take £24.99 from your account and ask you to call them back for authorisation. I’m starting to think the good reviews I’ve seen might actually be put up by the scammers!

I've just been in touch with MBNA's Fraud Department regarding some dodgy card activity. The number 033304 59717 is the real deal, as confirmed when I rang their 0800 587 0997 helpline. They notified me about an unauthorised transaction on my card made for an Amazon purchase today, which indeed happened! Thankfully, they swiftly blocked that transaction and went ahead to cancel my card after our chat on the 0800 line. To clarify, my card hasn't even left my house in two years! So, please disregard any claims suggesting that 0333 0459 717 isn't affiliated with MBNA; such assertions are utterly misleading and completely off the mark!
