Got a text the night before and then a call claiming to be from the MBNA Fraud Team - obviously a scam. I've blocked both numbers now, would steer clear if I were you.

My mobile just got a call with a fraud alert message poppin' up. I ignored it, then right after, my landline buzzes. Some auto voice saying it's MBNA fraud protection, telling me to press any button for a check. This happened like 3 times in the past 15 minutes! Bit fishy if you ask me.

If you get a call about potential fraud on your MBNA, Halifax, or Lloyds card, it’s probably legit. They’re checking suspicious activity on your account. Still, I’d say it’s safer to ring your bank back on a number you trust before doing anything. If you can, freeze your card right away just to be safe. Better safe than sorry, innit?

While I was on a call with MBNA’s fraud team using my landline, this number rang my mobile about three times within ten minutes. I just let it ring each time and once I finished my conversation, I decided to check it out here. I've since blocked the number. It feels a bit dodgy to me, especially since they didn’t bother leaving a voicemail when they easily could’ve. Just a heads up - only use the phone numbers printed on the back of your credit card, that way you’re definitely contacting the legit MBNA office. Stay safe!

It asked me to confirm if I’d just paid a gambling site, and it even listed the last four digits of my card and the exact amount, both spot on. When I rang MBNA’s official helpline, they confirmed my original payment was fine but told me someone had tried to make a duplicate payment to a gambling site I’ve never dealt with. Curiously, there was no identification of the company or the specific card in question. Seemed highly suspicious, so I opted not to respond, and the message was just left sitting there.

They warned not to share passwords with fraudsters, which seemed like legit advice. But strangely, I used the card just 30 minutes after the message and it worked fine. They claimed to be from my bank and bombarded me with calls and texts from not one, not two, but three different numbers-trying hard to confirm my identity. Obviously, I chose not to engage with this apparent scam aimed at gathering personal details.
