Got a call from someone saying they're from OVO, but it felt like a total scam.

Got a call but missed it, number looked kinda like the hospital’s, so I looked it up. Turns out it was some place called “Eco Solar” trying to push us to get solar panels, promising “big savings” on energy bills. Thing is, they want you to fork out thousands upfront, so any actual savings would take ages to show up until you’ve paid them off. Not our property anyway, so definitely not spending our cash on that! Number’s blocked now.

So, today’s date is 05/05/2025 and I’m halfway across the globe. The voice sounded super legit, like the person actually knew what they were on about. Could easily fool anyone not on alert. I’m almost certain it was that same scammer from a couple of years ago but now with some AI voice tech and fancy algorithms trying to fish for my details. My tip? Always question them about specific address, name, phone number or account info they’re referring to. If they dodge or start babbling nonsense, you’re probably dealing with either a dodgy scammer or just a bot pretending to be human.

Shortly after, my landline rang just once. Proper odd. First he said no, then he said yes. Oh, and he also tried to sell me a smart meter, which I declined.
