I received a phone call from this number today, 14th February 2019. The caller claimed to be from BT and inquired whether I was experiencing any bothersome phone calls. They seemed to have my home address, postcode, and last name already. When they requested that I spell out my first name, I politely declined, and subsequently, they hung up on me. Quite the odd encounter, if you ask me!

I’m an asian guy and got a call earlier today, they asked for my brother-in-law by his name. I told them he wasn’t around, then they asked if I was the owner of the phone. Got a call from a man with an Indian accent saying he needed to upgrade my call blocker. Then he asked for my debit card expiry date for some reason. When I asked why, he said it was needed to confirm the card linked to my direct debit. I was like, what does my card have to do with my DD? Then he just cut the call. There are decent folks trying to help fight scam calls. One trick is to change your voicemail greeting to something like, if you’re a call centre, please buzz off. Or just pick up and say in your most serious voice, you’ve reached the fraud department, please hold while we verify your details. Or just keep yabbering about random rubbish until they get bored and hang up. They’re only after your cash and telling fibs, so why not play along and throw them off?
