I’d definitely double check with your bank before doing anything, but chances are this is a scam. A few comments a bit further down, maybe 14 or so, explain how you can report these dodgy calls.

Got a message with a one-time password, and it said if I wasn’t the one requesting it, I should ring this number.

Got a call saying it was from HSBC about a one-time password for a Makro transaction, and that I should call this number back if I hadn’t done it. Thing is, I don’t even have an HSBC account, so it’s clearly dodgy. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a text claiming an OTP and a ref number for a transaction of £802.30 from Macros with code CB94D. It asked me to ring straight away if I hadn’t made this purchase. Thought it sounded dodgy, but I dialled the number to see what was going on before reporting it. The voicemail was weirdly familiar, like one of those helpline voices you usually trust, probably to make it seem legit. I ended up hanging up as soon as I noticed I was put on hold in a queue.
