Just like others have said, I got a call from a guy claiming I was due over £200 from Sky because I'd been overcharged. The bloke, sounded Asian, asked for my date of birth, but I told him that my DOB has nothing to do with getting a refund. I reminded him Sky already have all my info to sort it, so they’d just need to send the money straight to my bank. Obviously, it’s a scam and nothing’s gonna come of it!

Today I got a call from a person saying they were from Sky about some overpayment issue. They wanted me to give them my personal info but when I said they should already have that if they really worked for Sky, they put me through to a manager. The manager didn’t sound genuine at all. I can imagine this might stress out some folks, and since this number’s been ringing people for over two years, you’d think something would've been done by now, especially with the new rules around cold calls.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Virgin Mobile, telling me I was owed a refund of £202 and then asked for my bank and card info. I asked them who they really were, and they gave me this phone number to ring back saying it was their customer service. It didn’t sound right to me so I just ended the call. They hung up after that.

I’m registered disabled and got a call supposedly from Sky saying I was owed £202. When I asked for the address they said it was for, it wasn’t anywhere I’ve ever lived or heard of. I started asking questions as I figured Sky would send me something in writing and I’m sure my bills are all paid. It was clear right away it was a scam. As soon as I pressed them, they just hung up. These scammers have no shame, bothering vulnerable people like this. Why don’t they just get a proper job?

My elderly mum, who’s 84, got a call from a bloke saying he was Joel Waters from the Sky Refund squad. He claimed she was due £300 back. She mentioned he knew where she lived and even her password - not sure if he fished that out of her somehow. He also said he recognised the first digits of her debit card and asked if she could share the last ones. Luckily, she stuck to what I taught her and didn’t fall for it!

My mother-in-law, who is 86, received a phone call from someone claiming to represent Sky refunds, saying she should get £202 back. Got a call from an Asian guy who said his name was Moses Martin. He told me SKY was going to give me a £220 refund because of some "technical issues" I'd had. He actually knew my name and where I lived, but then asked me to confirm my date of birth and wanted my bank info. I was a bit wary and said no, so he gave me that phone number and a supposed SKY ID - ACT058. Then he started pushing for my bank details again and got quite rude when I didn’t comply. I rang the number he gave, but just got an automated message saying the number wasn’t in service. Definitely a scam!

I do some volunteering for Mencap in Ceredigion and noticed that some of our members living alone, though supported, have been receiving these sorts of calls. They're probably at risk of sharing their personal info. I've put up a warning on our Facebook and Twitter to try and raise awareness. Honestly, it would be great if you could tell any family or friends who might be vulnerable to watch out for these calls.

This morning at exactly 9 o’clock, I got a call about a £200 Sky refund. They had my name and address but not my date of birth, so I lied about that. They said someone else would call me back to sort the refund. I asked for the number, just in case I missed the call, and they gave me this one. When asked for my debit card details, I said I wanted a cheque instead, and then they just hung up on me. Pretty obvious scam from some call centre in Asia. I’m not even a Sky customer!
