Got a dodgy text pretending to be from HSBC, telling me to ring their fraud department. Total scam, don’t fall for it.

Beware of a scam involving HSBC. I got a call from the number 01204 935583 through WhatsApp, looked like a regular call but I missed it. Afterwards, I got a text on my phone asking me to ring 03301901148 about a supposedly fraudulent transaction of £425 to a J. Adams, ref B8KJ. Don’t fall for it, always get in touch with your bank using the phone number printed on your bank card only.

Just got a text about some payment to J Adams I didn’t authorize. Seems dodgy to me, could be some kind of scam. I wouldn’t ring that number, it’s definitely not the HSBC fraud hotline. Better to stay away from that one.

Got a text from someone claiming to be HSBC saying they put a hold on a payment of £452 to J Adams, referencing B8KJ, and to call fraud on 03301901148 if I need help. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with HSBC, so there’s no way this is legit!
