I got a call from someone saying they were from the fraud team about strange charges on my card. When I asked which bank, they couldn’t tell me properly. Their English was really poor too!

I chose not to pick up, seemed like spam since they didn’t bother leaving any message.

Loads of scam calls have been blowing up my phone lately, so I just ignored this number since it wasn’t familiar to me. Plus, it’s pretty odd for a business to ring you on a Saturday. If it was legit, they’d probably leave a voicemail, but there was nothing. I looked it up on this site and apparently, this number and some ones like it are often reported as scams.

Got a suspicious call earlier today about housing repairs, even though I’m on the TPS list. A man with an Indian accent asked if there was any mould in my council or housing association flat. I didn’t mention I actually own the place myself. He then claimed he could connect me with a solicitor to help me make a claim against them. Seemed dodgy to me.

Got a call from some unknown number, not sure who they are but feels like a dodgy scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the disrepairs dept. They refused to say which council they represented and then just cut the line. These sorts of calls from groups ringing council tenants about repair problems seem to be a growing problem, and it only ends up costing more for everyone involved. Best to just ignore them.

Didn’t even stay on the phone long, but for sure a scammer.

Got a call from a guy claiming he wanted to talk about some repair work I’d apparently asked for at home. I told him I hadn’t asked for anything like that. Then he asked if there were any problems with mould or damp in the house, speaking with a kind of faint Indian accent at first but switching to more of an English tone as we spoke. It felt dodgy, so I just ended the call since I never reported any issues and it seemed like a scam.

Earlier today someone shared a post on here, and if you scroll down about five or six comments, it explains clearly how you can report dodgy scam calls. These scammers rely on the fact that loads of people in the UK either haven't a clue how to report them to the police or Ofcom, or they simply don’t bother. That’s why we keep getting bombarded with these annoying calls, texts, and emails, and why so many vulnerable folks end up losing their money.

With the gale howling outside and news about a leisure centre roof being ripped off, I wouldn’t put it past this being one of those dodgy housing repair scams. Had to pick up the phone anyway since sometimes I do get important but unknown calls. As soon as I said hello, they just dropped the call straight away. Not shocked at all!
