Received a dubious call claiming to be from O2, saying I could snag a discount for the next six months. Strangely, they were able to send me an O2 six-digit authorisation code, which they insisted I provide back to them. Seems like a right con!

Got a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent, sounded like he was shouting over a busy call centre. He tried telling me I’d earned a 30% discount because I was a “loyal customer”. Things got dodgy when he asked me to check a code he’d sent to my phone - it turned out to be a password reset code, not some kind of promo code. I cut the call off straightaway and made sure to report the number to 02.

This morning (24/8/23) I got a call on my mobile from a man with an Asian accent, claiming he was from Apple. He kept calling me "Mam" and started asking how I was doing. I didn’t stick around to listen to anything else and just ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam! Watch out!

Got a call from 0330 118 4794, sounded like one of those Indian call centres with loads of chatter in the background, claiming to be from O2. They already knew my email and details about my O2 contract, which was kinda odd. They said I could get a 30% discount for being a loyal customer. Then, they asked if the phone could be sent to 48 Mottram Road, Stalybridge, SK15 2SQ. Felt a bit off to me.

Out of curiosity, I reached out to O2 directly, only to find they don’t offer any such discounts or promotions via phone - it’s entirely up to the customer to get in touch about their account. This is quite clearly a scam.

I just had a rather dodgy call purportedly from O2, promising a cheeky 30% discount on my monthly bill. When I probed a bit further, they said something along the lines of, “You’ll get 30% off whatever you currently pay.” Seemed rather phoney to me, as I pointed out that surely O2 has access to my monthly payment info. At that point, he asked for my bank details, which immediately rang alarm bells. I politely declined and hung up. The chap sounded like he was calling from India. Best to block that number and steer clear of sharing any personal info!
