Phone number ☎️ 03301028005 👆 is reported as the official helpline for the AA in the UK but has recently been involved in confusion due to a widespread email issue. Many users received emails - sometimes genuine but often suspicious - claiming their AA password had been changed without their consent, advising them to call the associated phone number. The AA has acknowledged a technical error causing these emails, assured customers their data remains secure, and requested people avoid calling the number provided in the messages. There are also scams impersonating the AA, with fake emails and numbers attempting to phish for information. Users are advised to verify any communication through the official AA website or known contact channels and report suspicious emails to AA customer support. The situation has caused concern, delays, and frustration with customer service responsiveness.

I rang this number yesterday (July 19th, 2025) because I needed some help, and it turns out it’s actually the AA helpline. I checked their website afterwards and found the same number listed there. Just so you know, the line was closed when I called, but it definitely isn’t a scam or anything like that.

It’s obvious a scam cause I’m not even in the AA but got messages about an AA account. Surprising some folks still got tricked by it!

Just wanted to update everyone since we replied earlier here. A few of you might have got an email from us at the AA saying your password had been changed. That email was sent by mistake from our address - [email protected][###]. We’re really sorry if this caused any worry or confusion. Please rest assured that your password hasn’t actually been changed and your personal info is safe. There’s no need for any action or to get in touch with us. Again, apologies for the mix-up. Best wishes, The AA Social Media Team

Please rest assured, your password remains unchanged, and all your personal information is entirely safe. There's no need for any further action on your part, nor do you need to get in touch with us. Like a lot of others, I’ve left my password untouched and when I got in touch with the AA, they weren’t much help at all. Because of this, I won’t be renewing my insurance or membership with them. Terrible customer service and seems like they don’t care one bit.

Received a dodgy email pretending to be from AA about my password being changed without me doing it.

Yeah, I experienced something similar. The email didn’t have a proper link, which seemed dodgy. Also, the call came through in the dead of night. I’m planning to ring the AA and let them know.

Hey, I just got a message from the AA saying my password was changed, but I never did that. Tried to log into the AA site myself but it wouldn't recognise my details. Checked this site and loads of others seem to be having the same issue. Rang the AA on the number from their website and they said it’s a problem on their end, not a hack or anything. Hopefully they sort it out soon.

Got an email claiming to be from the AA saying my password was changed and to ring them if I hadn’t done it. Totally a scam. The sender’s email looked dodgy: [email protected][###] and the phone number definitely isn’t from the AA. Don’t respond or call that number, or you’ll just get yourself added to some scammer’s list.

Got an email from this number at half past one this morning. Looked it up and found this discussion here. Seems like the usual story for everyone else too. I could log into my AA account but couldn’t update the password, so I’m guessing AA’s having issues. Sent a message to their support team, but I’m not getting my hopes up for a quick response.

Seems like a phishing attempt to me. I logged into my account directly, not through the email, and my password hadn’t been changed. Plus, this phone number doesn’t line up with any AA customer service contacts I know.
9 years
Same here. I managed to log into AA without any issues, using my own email and password (I use strong, unique passwords stored in a password manager). So I’m guessing someone’s trying to mess with AA by flooding them with calls or something like that. I haven’t checked the email headers yet to find out where it’s really coming from, but it’s probably a good idea. Odd thing is, I also got an unexpected email from BT telling me to update my password.

i got the exact same email about changing my AA password. i tried calling the number they gave but it just kept busy, so i gave up. honestly, i’m annoyed because i didn’t even stop to wonder if it was suspicious, and i normally check these things really carefully. it did make me realise something tho - even though i’ve got the AA app on my phone, i couldn’t find any contact number in it to get in touch with them directly.

Got a call from A.A today 26/06. The person who picked up the phone gave me the contact on the suspicious e-mail to report it. I told her what was happening, but she didn't really seem to know much about it.!!! She put me on hold, probably asked a manager or something, then came back saying they've received loads of similar calls and advised me not to log into my account for now, just leave it be. I wonder if they'll make an official announcement about this???

Just a quick follow-up on my previous comment. I got in touch with AA customer services about my membership and the dodgy email I received. They said it was a mistake on their end and that I shouldn’t worry, but I’m still a bit uneasy because the email started with just "Hi," which feels off. They also said the problem with changing passwords is connected to the same internal glitch. It kinda seems like AA might be trying to cover it up. Fingers crossed it’s really their fault and they’ll sort it soon, but I’ll be changing my passwords as soon as I can get back in.

Received a message purporting to be from the AA about a password alteration. Definitely raises the alarm bells for potential phishing.

Like a bunch of others here, I got an email saying I’d “successfully changed my account password” with a phone number to ring. Seriously, don’t call that number!! I got suspicious pretty quick because: 1) It didn’t have any of my personal info, no name or part of my membership number. 2) I couldn’t find that number anywhere on the AA’s official website. Feels like a phishing attempt or worse, a trick to make you ring a really expensive premium rate. Just watch out, folks!

Might be something wrong with the AA's system. I got a message about resetting my password but didn’t ask for it, and they told me to call this number if it wasn’t me.

We got an email about changing our password too. I logged in and updated it again but then I saw that our policy is showing up as cancelled now.

I got an email saying my password had been changed, but I haven't done it at all. I phoned the number listed in the email and it’s the real AA line, which is now closed anyway. When I tried to log into my account, it just gave an error message asking me to call 03301028005 - the same number from the email. Yea, I reckon the AA site might’ve been compromised and someone’s been tampering with passwords and email addresses!

Got an email around 8.30pm UK time from a dodgy-looking address ([email protected][###]). The message said my password had been changed and to call an 0330 number if it wasn’t me who did it. Seems like a classic phishing scam to me. I’ve sent the email on to the AA’s customer support, using the contact info from their official site: customersupport@theaa[###].

Got a call from this number claiming to be the AA, but it just felt like a spam call to me.

No doubt about it, this has to be a scam.

I got the same email, but it won’t let me change the password at all.

Just got an email too, anyone know what’s happening?

Received a message about my AA password being changed, telling me to call a number. Not gonna bother calling it, instead I’ll try to pass it on to the AA company itself. Seems fishy like what others said.

Just like a few others mentioned here, I got an email telling me my password was changed for real. Felt a bit dodgy to me. Not picking up any calls about it. Sending it straight to AA.

I also received an email from them. Looks like a total scam to me.

They used the same email address that I got when I made my AA account back in Feb, and the phone number was the exact same too. But it never used my name, just begins with "Hi," which makes me suspect it's dodgy. I reckon if you get the email on your phone and tap the number that’s blue and underlined, it might actually link to a different number, even tho it looks like it’s the AA’s. I’m quite convinced it’s a scam.

I got that exact same email too, but I'm not even a member of the AA, so it must be a scam!

Got an email from these people and stupidly called the number back. Now I’ve gotten in touch with the AA to sort out a password change.

Got an email claiming I switched my password from AA. Said to call a number if it wasn’t me. Deleted the email straight away and didn’t bother calling back.

If you’re unsure about an email like this, best thing to do is send it over to customersupport@theaa[###] and ask them to check if it’s legit.

Just got a message at 8.19 pm tonight, and I'm thinking it might be some kind of mistake or a scam, especially since loads of others got the same thing at once.

The cost of calls is no more than calls to geographic numbers (01 or 02). The cost of calls from mobiles vary depending on the selected calling plan. Usually, these calls are included in free call packages.
