This morning, my landline rang and it was an automated message coming from this number. They claimed to be from Shell Energy - which I do happen to have as my provider currently. The message gave me a few choices: firstly, to confirm if I was the person they mentioned; then to say if this was that individual’s phone number; or to state if I had no relation to the person. After hearing all that, I just hung up straight away! Honestly, it’s a bit unsettling that they managed to get hold of our private numbers from Shell Energy like that.

I keep getting texts and calls every day telling me to call Shell Energy at this phone number. I've blocked it but the messages still come through, asking me to click on a link to pay an overdue bill that's nearly three grand. I've never had anything to do with Shell Energy, so this has to be some kind of scam.

Got a call saying it was from Shell Energy. They asked me to press 1 if I was “Name” and then wanted me to enter numbers from my postcode. If you give them the right info, it then offers two payment options - online or via SMS. Honestly, that kind of info like your name, postcode and phone number is probably what scammers collect.

Sounds exactly like a scam to me. If this really was Shell Energy or their debt collectors, it’s pretty poor for them to use such a dodgy system.

I'd say there’s a 99% chance it’s not legit - don’t pay anything. If you owe money, only make payments straight through Shell’s official website.

I keep getting calls from this number, supposedly Shell Energy, but it’s just a quick recorded message with no details about who they really are. Could be anyone on the other end, really. So, I just ignore them straight away. Tried looking up the number but couldn’t find anything concrete. If others want to block it, fair enough, but I just leave it be.

This has got to be a total scam. I’ve got three texts from someone claiming to be ‘ShellEnergy’, saying I owe money which is absolutely not true, giving me an account number that’s completely wrong, and asking me to either click some dodgy links or ring a number. No way am I falling for that! The message looks like it’s from ShellEnergy and says something like: Hi, this is Shell Energy. You owe £105.55 on account 5968950, which was due on 01/09/2022. Please pay immediately. Click this so-called secure link (which I deleted straight away) or call 03300949189. Stay clear, folks!
