This morning I got a pre-recorded message purporting to be from Santander Bank. The caller alleged that there had been some dodgy activity on my account and asked me to verify if I had made the most recent payment. They even requested my bank details to establish my identity! No doubt about it, this was definitely a phishing attempt! The irony is, I don't even hold an account with Santander!

Got a text saying a payment went through and to ring the fraud team if I hadn’t done it. Didn’t say which bank or anything. Totally feels like a scam trying to trick me.

I rang up this number regarding a dubious payment linked to J Marcus, and it identified itself as SANTANDER. However, I don’t even hold an account with SANTANDER, so I’m rather convinced it’s a scam. The recorded voice instructed me to have my ID and card details ready, which raised a few alarm bells.

"I've had a go at making a payment to J MARCUS, reference RB8T. If this wasn't something you did, I suggest you contact our specialised security team IMMEDIATELY at +44 330 0271 024." The automated voice on the other end sounded remarkably like Santander, insisting that I have my banking information prepared. Disgusting, lowdown thieves!

Received the same message today, which led me to ring the number in question. A dreadful thought crossed my mind about it potentially being the SANTANDER FRAUD LINE - 0800 912 3123. Naturally, I decided to investigate further online. I promptly accessed my account and made the decision to freeze all my accounts, fingers crossed that I acted quickly enough in case this is a scam. Now, I'm just biding my time, awaiting a response from SANTANDER to confirm everything.
