When I looked up the number, it showed as a proper Bank of Scotland contact, but it was a total phishing trick. Really clever how they pulled it off. I only sussed it out was cos I don’t actually have any accounts or services with that bank.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the RBS fraud team, warning me about some dodgy activity on my account. Problem is, I don’t even have an account with RBS. They somehow had my personal info and the name of my actual bank, and told me there was a new account opened in my name, with money moved from my real bank using my passport details. Sounded pretty legit, but it was definitely a con! Never give them any info. When I tried calling the number back, it ended up going to the Royal Bank of Scotland insurance department instead!

Got a call from someone claiming to be RBS saying I'd set up a direct debit at Argos. They said they needed to cancel my credit card. I asked why they'd done that if they already had my account and sort codes, then they just cut the call. Total scam.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from the Bank of Scotland, stating that we are inadvertently paying for two car insurance policies on the same vehicle and that they could sort it out for us. I’m curious, though-could this be the actual Bank of Scotland, or is it just some sort of scam?
