I’ve had this number ring me a few times now. The first time I picked up, it was a lady claiming to be from CIMB bank. She told me I was chosen for some kind of insurance plan, but the weird bit was the policy supposedly pays out if my family ends up in hospital. That’s not how insurance works, right? When I said no thanks, she started firing off loads of questions. Then, a couple of months later, I get another call - this time a bloke on the line. Same spiel. I got the impression it was a dodgy scheme, so I turned it down again. He kept asking questions too, but just as I was about to hang up, he chuckled quietly and hung up himself. Just thought I’d share what I found from a quick Google search, maybe it’ll be useful for someone else. The number 03-27178000 rang me up offering some kind of ATM insurance for RM80 monthly, saying it was linked to MEPS. But after looking it up online, it seems like it’s a telemarketer working for Ace Jerneh insurance. I can’t remember if the person mentioned Ace Jerneh, I wasn’t paying much attention anyway. Also, the caller spoke only Chinese, which felt quite odd to me.
