I recently got a rather alarming message from the number 011-3366-5966, claiming that my card ending in **09 had been billed RM4500 at City Chain in KLIA 2, supposedly via my RHB credit card. The catch is, I don’t even own an RHB credit card! The message urged me to ring 032168-3699 for further details, so I gave it a go, but it just rang out with no response. That’s when it dawned on me that this was likely a scam, especially given the dodgy mobile number it came from. I thought it best not to waste my time trying to contact that number back.

I've just had a rather dodgy message pinged through from this number, claiming that I’ve swiped an RHB credit card for RM4500 at City Chain in KLIA 2. The thing is, I don’t even possess an RHB credit card! I usually wouldn’t pay any mind to such things, but the urge to ring back and investigate has crossed my mind. It seems like City Chain ought to look into taking legal action against whoever is behind this nonsense.

This morning, I got an identical message from the number +6011 2615 7626. Quite curious, really!

Got a call this morning (1/12/16) and my curiosity got the better of me, so I returned the call. A bloke on the other end rattled off my entire identification number and home address as if he had them at his fingertips. He warned me that I needed to settle an unpaid balance, or I'd face a court order. I told him I’d make my way to the RHB headquarters myself to sort it all out. It’s rather disconcerting to think that my personal information might have been compromised-might it have been an insider from the bank?

As I mentioned previously, this situation appears highly suspicious-almost fraudulent, if you ask me. The message I received from what claims to be the credit card centre seems rather odd. It stated: RM0.00 R.H.B: MYR 4388.00 has been deducted from your card with number ending in **09 at A.W.G-KLIA 2 on the 29th of September. If you did not authorise this transaction, you must ring 03-21683699 at once.
