Was soll das denn bitte?

Hallo Carina!

So, apparently there's a supposed technical fault? Who on earth would believe that? I've been contacted five times already - it's absolutely outrageous!

This clearly isn't the Deutsche Bank that you expect. Just take note of how the individuals on the line greet you, saying something like, "Good day, Mr/Ms XXX! I'm YYY, calling on behalf of Deutsche Bank," or, "I'm calling from the service centre of Deutsche Bank." In reality, it’s a *call centre*, which operates not just for Deutsche Bank but also for various others like norisbank, and even utilities like Ruhrgas, along with publishers, insurance companies, and other businesses. They are reaching out to existing customers-many of whom probably never consented to such calls-and even ex-customers, under the guise of casual chit-chat or surveys, attempting to pry out as much information as possible, all in a clandestine fashion. This so-called *adm group GmbH & Co. KG* began in a locale called Gesundbrunnen in Berlin, but since 2011, after being absorbed by the Swiss-Austrian-German company *avocis living service AG*, it now operates from Kreuzberg, right near the old Berlin Wall’s border, according to historical maps. Interestingly, when callers ring you up, they display the number 030-50591080 (or sometimes 030-50591081 during particular campaigns). However, if you try to return the call, be prepared for a rather tedious wait, as you find yourself stuck in a loop proclaiming that you’re in the German Bank’s service centre-only to never actually speak to anyone. Should you skillfully inquire where the person you're speaking to is located, I bet they'll tell you they're at the Ullsteinhaus on Mariendorfer Damm, which isn't too far from the real Deutsche Bank service centre. It’s all very orchestrated; they don’t want you catching on that your private data is being passed on to a call centre in Kreuzberg manned by a mix of temp workers and students, none of whom have formal banking training. Consequently, if you’re hoping to sort out the whereabouts of your new debit card or inquire about your account balance during such a call, don't hold your breath! These workers lack the authority to assist with such matters! And why, you may wonder, does it sometimes seem there’s just silence or static on the line when these numbers ring? That's simply because the agents don’t dial the numbers themselves; a computer programme does that for them. Occasionally, there might be too many incoming calls or not enough agents ready to chat once you pick up. But worry not; you’ll keep receiving calls until an agent finally manages to connect. If you think saying you’re too busy or hanging up will put an end to it, think again! Your details will just get flagged for another round of calls in the future. Your best bet? Politely but firmly decline any offers, or better yet, block the number and file a complaint with the relevant authorities. These call centre employees are working under immense pressure to generate leads, as that's how they earn their keep with Deutsche Bank. If they don’t meet their targets, they risk losing their jobs. So, when engaging with one of these agents, tread carefully! They might be told to embellish or even fabricate details to tick off boxes for their performance stats. It’s astonishing but true that many are oblivious to the fact that they are customers at Deutsche Bank, sometimes owing to clever loopholes in financing agreements at various retailers. Read the fine print, as many folks are inadvertently giving their consent for these relentless calls. Moreover, claiming they note down your desire to no longer be contacted might not even result in any tangible outcome. Your info might still exist in their system, and you'll only find yourself back in the ringing cycle as new campaigns commence. The tactics they employ are predictable, following a well-scripted approach for their pitches to exploit customers. I've unearthed these insights through diligent research and personal experience, having infiltrated the operation myself under the guise of a fresh recruit. I observed many questionable practices during my time there, ultimately quitting when it became too risky to remain undercover. So, heed this warning: It's a tangled web of deception, and the industry is rife with practices that would make most consumers uneasy. Don't let yourself be misled! These call centres are a prevalent fixture across all major banks and corporations. The promises they dangle often turn out to be mere illusions, with little recourse to escape their clutches once you've been entrapped.

Right then! I received a call from this number not long ago myself. Didn't bother to ring back, though. Now I've got the scoop on where it’s coming from... off to delete it and make sure to block it for good in the future! 😂

Well, I recently acquired a laptop and financed it through Media Markt, with the arrangement going through Deutsche Bank. I just received a call from this number, so I’m quite curious to find out what they’re after!

I must say, I'm quite fond of the internet! Humans are inherently curious, aren’t they? We all want to know who's on the other end of that phone call. However, it's wise to be cautious, especially with unfamiliar numbers, as they often mask potential scams. As an aside, I recently took out a finance deal at Media Markt, which got me thinking about privacy matters as well. It's all rather concerning, isn't it?

I too received a call from this number earlier today. The chap on the other end was quite rude, to say the least. He didn’t bother to introduce himself or mention which company he was representing, acting as if my husband was hiding something from me. He claimed to be from a lending institution and insisted that he needed to have a private conversation with my husband. If he couldn’t reach him at the moment, he promised to ring back later this evening, clearly thinking he’d have better luck then. Utterly unacceptable behaviour!

This afternoon, we had a similar situation here too; the same number popped up on our screen. We chose not to respond or call back at all.

I had no issues with the number; I returned the call, and I must say, they were quite courteous. They were simply inquiring, as I am a customer of their financing services, if I would be interested in a new loan that had recently been proposed. Everything felt perfectly secure!
