Beware of these TV licence fraudsters! They’ll ring you and leave a message on your voicemail, but when you try to hear it, it just skips through and plays a recording saying something like "You’ve been contacted by TV licence, but there’s no-one available to take your call right now and they’ll get back to you." It’s definitely a scam - the real TV licence people don’t call you out of the blue. I already checked that my licence is current with the official TV licence folks, so it’s clear this is a dodgy trick and you should be very careful.

Some woman called saying she was from tv licensing, but I was a bit iffy since I only owed like £13.50. She wanted my full address, like house name and number, but I just gave her the house number, which was 2. She seemed quite annoyed. Felt like a dodgy call to me, so I just ended it. Someone phoned me asking to verify my address and dob. I gave them wrong info coz I was half asleep. I even told them another call was on the line and then hung up. Still, I feel a bit uneasy about the whole thing.

Just got a call from 03005550285 but couldn’t pick up as I was in a different room. Looks like it might be from TV licensing from what I’ve read here. However, seeing all the bad comments makes me unsure if it really is them. They’ve been chasing me recently about some payments they say I owe, though I’m pretty sure I’ve already paid up. They ring up making it seem like you're the one being annoying, then try to squeeze cash out of you - asking when you’re gonna sort this bill or that. Felt like dealing with some dodgy gangsters. Whether it’s religious nutjobs or crooks, all the same to me. Just cos some grumpy old woman doesn’t wanna pay her TV licence, now I’m getting hassled. Plus, I’ve got farmers and neighbours messing about with my utility accounts too. Dead obvious.

I got calls on both my home phone and mobile, with someone claiming to be from TV licensing saying I owed them money. I hung up straight away and then phoned TV licensing myself. ALWAYS ask stuff like ‘who’s calling and what do you want’. Then just use a bit of common sense but always be on the lookout for scams trying to get your bank info or personal data they can pass to others. If you’re unsure, look the caller up online. TV licence fees should only be paid through the official website by setting up a direct debit.

They kept asking me by name like "are you so and so" and I was like, "Who is this?" but all they did was ask the same question again. I told them again, "Who is calling?" like four or five times. They never said who they were, just kept repeating themselves. So eventually I just hung up and blocked the number.

This number rang me a couple of times. I didn't pick up the first call but answered the second. I asked if they were calling from an 0300 number and she said yes. I told her I looked up the number and it came up as a 'scam number'. She replied, 'yeah, if you’re on a Samsung phone it often shows that!' So, I just ended the call. Seriously, what even...?
