My missus got a call from some automated voice claiming she owed back taxes and would be nicked if she didn’t pay £700 straight away. The robot kept saying it was from HMRC and that the cops would come in an hour if the money wasn’t sent. Totally a scam, so we blocked the number immediately!

Got a call from some dodgy bloke with a robotic voice that sounded worse than one of those old Amiga speech gadgets from decades back. They tried to say I’m involved in tax fraud or something daft like that and kept pushing me to press 1. Honestly, I’m not falling for that rubbish - no way am I confirming my number like that. If you ever get one of these calls, just don’t press any buttons and let it drop off on its own after a bit. Safe and simple.

It’s been since 28/2/19, this creepy American bloke with a recorded voice claiming to be from HRMC keeps calling me up about some tax fraud case. Got a scam call on 28/02/19 supposedly about owing money to HMRC. I hit '1' and ended up speaking to a lady with an Indian accent. Then the call got redirected to an overseas number. She wanted my full name, but I got suspicious and asked for their identity to check if it really was HMRC, but then she just hung up. The number was 03002003525.

I got a call from this number too, like a lot of others seem to have. I hit one like it asked, but all it did was say “goodbye” and then the line went dead. No idea what that was about, felt pretty random to me.

Got a call a bit after midday from someone claiming to be with HMRC’s fraud team, saying I’m under investigation. He asked me to verify my full name and the last four digits of my National Insurance. When I asked why he was calling, he dodged the question. Apparently, there’s an issue with my tax from 2015 to 2018, and I supposedly owe £511.69. Then he started threatening me with court and police visits, saying I either settle the full amount now or face legal action. Told him to jog on (HMRC usually sends something by post anyway, probably will by April). He kept threatening, saying police would come round today. I just laughed and hung up. The guy had a South Asian accent - definitely a scammer pretending to be from HMRC Fraud Dept.
