Received a call purporting to be from HMRC, stating that there's an arrest warrant out for me if I don’t settle a so-called tax bill they’ve fabricated. Quite suspicious, isn’t it?

I received a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from HMRC, insisting she was looking into tax fraud cases. I asked her, "Are you actually from HMRC?" to which she confidently replied, "Yes." I then requested her name to write it down, and just like that, the line went silent. Quite peculiar, isn’t it?

I let this call slip through the cracks, so I decided to return the ring. Upon dialling back, a woman’s voice with a charming Irish lilt greeted me, offering me two options: press 1 or stay on the line. After choosing to hold, the same Irish voice informed me that the number I was trying to reach is no longer in operation. This all seems rather dodgy to me.
