This morning, I got a rather alarming call claiming I was under investigation for fraud by HMRC. They insisted that if I didn’t press 1 to connect with an agent, I would face arrest. Being an accountant, I frequently correspond with HMRC, so I know full well that this isn't their typical approach at all. I can't stress this enough - do not engage with these individuals. Just hang up!
