Received a call claiming to be from HMRC, stating there’s a fraud investigation linked to my name. The automated message threatened that if I didn’t press 1, a warrant for my arrest would be issued. Curiosity got the better of me, and I pressed 1 to get to the bottom of it. On the line was an Asian gentleman who informed me it was about income tax fraud. I quickly refuted his claim, insisting that I’m employed by a legitimate firm. This all seemed highly dubious, so I promptly mentioned I’d contact HMRC directly. At that point, he just disconnected.
