I recently had a rather alarming phone call purporting to be from HMRC. The message asserted that I had an outstanding debt, and if I failed to press 1, an arrest warrant would be issued against me. Naturally, this has left me quite concerned, especially since I did press 1 but wasn't connected to anyone. I’m quite anxious to find out whether this was a genuine call or just a scam - the caller ID claimed to be HMRC.
