Just got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying there was fraud on my account. They hung up pretty quick and when I tried pressing 1 to speak to a person, nothing happened. Could be a scam, but I’m not certain.

I received a rather alarming call from this number. A pre-recorded voice claimed there was some sort of tax fraud tied to my name, and warned that I might face arrest soon if I didn’t press 1. Naturally, I pressed the number, only to be connected to someone who spoke with a thick Indian accent, which was tough to decipher. I ended the call in frustration. - caller: 0300 200 6842
