I received a call from someone purporting to be HMRC, starting off with the ominous warning that I could be arrested if I didn’t hang on for a representative. Then, an Indian chap came on the line, asking for my personal details. I countered with, "How can I verify that you're genuinely from HMRC?" and just like that, the line went silent. Quite the dodgy encounter, I'd say!
