My hubby got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC fraud, he asked them to tell the number, then said the police were on their way and hung up. Does this call end up costing him anything?

I got a call from some company saying it's about tax stuff, and there was a message on their voicemail saying if I didn't press 1 to keep going, I'd be arrested soon. Definitely sounded dodgy to me.

They rang me five times but I only caught one call since I was asleep with a bad migraine. After checking out numbers nearby, it looks like some sort of scam or bogus number. I couldn’t pick up quick enough so it just stopped ringing. Seems like anyone can get these free-to-call numbers, but they charge like 13p to 23p a minute if you call them from your mobile, or use your inclusive minutes. I guess they’re making money from people calling back, which explains why the call ends the moment you actually answer.
