Every time I pick up, it’s just an automated call that ends immediately. Feels like now that my number is “verified” or whatever, I’m gonna be bombarded with even more calls.

Got a call from someone pretending to be the tax office, total scam! Don’t trust or give them anything.

They rang me up pretending to be from HMRC, saying there was some tax fraud linked to me and to press 1. I foolishly hit 1, but as soon as someone picked up, it dawned on me it was a total con, so I hung up straight away. It was clear they were trying to scam me since they never mentioned my name, and I didn’t give them any details - so how could they even know about any fraud in my name?

Got a phone call from some lot pretending to be HMRC, telling me I was involved in tax fraud and to hit 1 for more info. I hung up straight away. It was pretty clear they was trying to scam me since they never used my actual name, and I never gave that out, so no way they’d know about any fraud linked to me.
