This number rang me while I was stuck in a meeting, so I couldn’t pick up. Later, I checked my voicemail and it said something mad about being arrested unless I pressed 1. Naturally, I looked up the number online and found out it wasn’t from any official agency but just a scam. Just a heads up - if you get a call from this number, be wary, it’s definitely dodgy!

I just got a robo call telling me I was gonna get arrested over some tax fraud thing. It's clearly one of those nuisance calls, and I noticed loads of people have reported it already. What’s being done to stop these calls then???

Got a call from someone saying there’s an unpaid tax fraud issue against me. Me, a pensioner! I cut the call off immediately, blocked the number and made sure to report it too. Total scam!

Got a text off someone claiming to be HMRC saying I’ve got a tax refund coming. Just so you know, HMRC don’t send texts like that about refunds - it’s definitely a scam.

This seems like one of those identity theft bots just confirming if your number's active. Give it a week or two, and you'll more than likely get a scam call pretending to be from "your bank", "hmrc", or even a "bt engineer". Honestly, I'd just block this number straight away before it gets any dodgier!

They mentioned something about a tax fraud issue, so I hit option one. Then when they asked how they could assist me, I just replied that they’d called me first, and they ended the call straight away.
