Received an automated call from this number claiming there was some problem with HMRC and threatening me with an arrest warrant unless I acted immediately. The message said to press 'x' to continue. I was certain it was a scam, so I decided to play along. Caller: Hello, can I have your name please? Me: You called me, you should already know who I am. Who exactly is this? Caller: Umm, this is *mumbles* from HM Revenue and Customs. Me: That’s a bit odd, because I just got a letter from HMRC saying they owe ME money, not the other way round. Caller: *hangs up* - obviously some clown pretending to be HMRC.

Got a call from a guy with an automated voice trying to sound all official. Didn't catch the whole thing but they mentioned something about tax fraud! I was lucky to skip a similar call before and looked it up online. Turns out it’s a scam, like others have said on forums - they try to trick you into pressing option 1 so they can steal your info. The caller pretended to be from HMRC with a male voice.
