Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC, trying to get me to pay £1962. They clearly didn’t get how PAYE works. After a few minutes of going back and forth, I ended it. Then they rang back from a different number, 020 7947 7828, and said they’d pray for me or something. The bloke called himself Special Customs Agent Adrian Harris. What a joke.

Got a call claiming to be from HRMC but it was definitely a scam. Legitimately, they always send a letter before any calls. I've never been self employed, either, plus I haven't worked in three years because of health problems. There's no money I owe and no payments coming my way. Best thing to do is just end the call, don’t reply, and report it. - caller said: HRMC - total scam attempt
