This is definitely a scam trying to freak you out by making you believe there's some tax fraud issue on your name. Best thing is to ignore the call and report the number straight to HMRC through their official phishing email. Don’t even pick up!

They called saying if I didn’t press 1 then they’d send the police to arrest me. Proper scary call that was.

Just got a call from someone saying they were from the tax office, threatening they'd send the cops if I didn't hit 1. Went straight to voicemail when I didn’t respond. Definitely a scam.
